Walk this Way
It's been said that "You are what you think you are," but really, it is more accurate to say that "you will do what you think about".  As believers, we are to live out our faith; but the only way we can do that is to renew our minds daily.  In today's lesson, Pastor Stephen challenges that righteous thinking leads to righteous living.  In his letter to the Colossian church, Paul uses several metaphors that we can relate to in our Christian walk.  Listen today, think about these truths, and apply God's inspired Word to the way you walk in this world.
Key Verses:  Colossians 2:6-10

    A Powerful Purpose
In today's teaching, Pastor Stephen taught about remaining focused and completing the Creator's purpose for our lives despite all of the distractions this world offers.  Though life can be a struggle, we can overcome through the power of the Holy Spirit.  It is through these tests, trials, and suffering that our faith can be refined and the outside world can see the Light of Christ shine through us.

    The Supremacy of Our Savior
In today's teaching, Pastor Stephen hits on the central theme of the Book of Colossians--the Supremacy of Christ.  In a world when the Gnostics taught that all evil was matter, that Jesus did not have a physical body, that angels should be worshiped as a means of growing closer to God...Paul sets things straight by establishing that Jesus is Supreme and He reigns as Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer.  In sum, He is Lord of all in heaven and on earth.  Give today's sermon a listen and give thanks for the sacrifice of our Savior.  Follow Jesus and live to worship Him!

    Persistent Praying
Pastor Stephen shares a Mother's Day message about praying persistently for those you love.  In Paul's letter to the Colossians, he pointed out the similarities in Paul's approach to build up, to encourage, and to teach his fellow church family members with that of a mother's approach to setting her children on the right path.  Paul wanted them to know right from wrong, to follow the truth, and to live in a manner that honored God.  And like a godly mother does for her children, Paul never stopped praying that they would come to know God's will...and walk in His ways.

RWC welcomed Mr. Kevin Bain, CEO and Executive Director of Welborn Baptist Foundation, Inc. to share God's Word today.  The story he shared of the grumbling Israelites who have been set free from their captivity by the power of God is really our story.  We too quickly forget how bad things were before we were set free from the slavery of sin, and we find ourselves complaining about our present circumstances, being disgruntled that our expectations have not been met; all while needing a fresh dose of reality.  He shared the many different ways we can respond to what life throws our way and examined the reactions of each party in today's text.  Listen, believe, and apply the truth of God's Word to your life's thoughts and actions.  God knows what's best for His people, and His powers are limitless.  So, be careful what you ask for in life...you just might get it!

    Thankful Thinking
Pastor Stephen introduces the book of Colossians and shares the highlights of the series:  A Crash Course in Colossians.  In this series opener, we look to Paul's letter written to the church in Colossae to guide how we are to think and behave on this side of the cross.  We use the Apostle Paul's challenge to his brothers in Christ (1,000 miles away from where he penned this letter) to drive how we should live our lives.  Listen and give thanks!

    The Path of No Return
One week after Easter, Pastor Stephen shares how believers are supposed to now live after the sacrifice.  Because Jesus laid down His life, all who believe in Him are now to live holy lives.  The empty tomb was full of promise that life can begin again.  You are no longer defined by your past--which means that you should now lead new lives that model the life Christ led while here on earth.  Live a life filled with love, forgiveness, peace, patience, and kindness.  Lift up your face, look beyond your past, look to the Holy Spirit living within you, and lead a life filled with the love of Jesus for all the world to see.
    Key Verse:  Colossians 3:1-17

    Oh, The Games We Play
    Series: Easter
Pastor Stephen takes RWC back to the garden on Easter morning to point to the earliest possible picture of Jesus' death and resurrection.  It was in the Garden of Eden where mankind first faced temptation and fell to sin.  It was also in the garden, where man first began to play games with God--as Adam and Eve engaged in a game of "hide-and-seek" with God--after realizing their nakedness.  They attempted to hide from God and then to cover-up their sin and shame with fig leaves; but God would find them out and show them one final act of love by providing a sacrifice to cover their source of sin and shame. (Gen 3:21)  In this, we again are given a picture of the coming atoning, eternal sacrifice of Jesus.
We need to stop playing games with the devil and with this world, and we need to remember that the promise of the empty tomb is that no matter where you've been or what you've done in your life, Jesus' sacrifice is atoning.  The empty tomb is God's promise that your life can begin again!  Don't let the sins of your past define you, because Jesus promises to make ALL THINGS NEW!!!  Listen, and be blessed.  Because He lives...we can face tomorrow without carrying around the heavy burdens of our sinful pasts.

    A Passover Promise
    Series: Easter
Pastor Stephen shares a Palm Sunday message entitled A Promise of Passover, where he weaves the Old Testament and New Testament together with Jesus as that common thread of red.  He shares how the Old Testament story of the first Passover in Exodus 12 points to God's eternal plans of Jesus being that flawless, sacrificial Passover lamb on Good Friday and the hope we have in a new life on Resurrection Sunday.  Passover was a picture of what was yet to come in the reality of Christ's atoning death at Calvary.  Jesus is the fulfillment of the "Passover" made available to all of those who accept His sacrifice and cover the doors of their hearts in His blood.
Because of Jesus, DEATH can pass over you!  Accept the blood of the lamb today...
