Tempted by the Tempter (Part II)
Pastor Stephen finished-up the back-half of his two-part message on temptation yesterday.  In studying Matthew 4, we see the "evil one" continuing to tempt the "Righteous One" as He moves from the physical temptation of hunger to a mental challenge of presenting to Jesus a way to garner a quick following to a spiritual offer to reign on a throne today.
When Jesus refuted the first temptation with Scripture, the devil responded by misquoting Scripture to encourage Jesus to take a leap of faith from the pinnacle of the temple.  Jesus answered this challenge by speaking truth and remained obedient to His Father and His Mission.
Now, down in the count 0-2, Satan offered Jesus the whole world if He would just bend His knee and worship Satan, but Our Savior wasn't willing to trade in a temporary kingdom for the one His Father already promised Him...one that would never fade away.  He resisted temptation not by simply quoting Scripture but by applying it to His life.  When Satan came offering a "better way"--Jesus repeatedly responded by telling Satan "No!"
When you feel like you're being tempted to do something that goes against the will, the way, and the Word of God; simply say "No" to that temptation and worship the Lord your God only.  Live for Him, because He died for you.

Tempted by the Tempter (Part I)
In today's message, Pastor Stephen shares some survivor skills we can learn from our savior regarding His showdown in the desert with the destroyer--where our Lord was tempted, tested, and tried--only to be proven trustworthy and true.  The first four verses of Matthew 4 reveal so much more than just our need to resist temptation; it also reveals much about Satan, our Savior, and the battle plans to achieve victory when the tempter comes tempting.  The devil will strike against people of faith in their weakest moments, but we (like Christ) can respond in a way that strengthens our faith and glorifies God.  It's not a sin to face temptation; it's a sin to succumb to it when that temptation leads you to violate God's laws.  We can all turn a test into a testimony when we know God's Word, apply it to our lives, and walk in His Way.

    Love and War
On this Valentine's day weekend, Pastor Stephen taught about Love and War in this week's message.  Scripture tells us that "God is love," but do we have a clear understanding of our enemy who wages war against all believers?  Listen to this week's sermon to better understand our ancient enemy and his battle plans against God's children.
In this message you will gain insight as to the Supremacy of Christ over ALL creation--including the created being of Lucifer--whose pride so deluded him that he rebelled against his Creator.  Understand that we are at war, and gain the "spiritual intel" to help you persevere in the battles of life.  LOVE WILL WIN THIS WAR!

    What were you thinking?
Today, Pastor Stephen kicked off a new sermon series entitled, This Means War!
There can be no doubt that evil is spreading across the globe and it can be witnessed through the heinous and sinful acts of men.  God's Word tells us that we are "in a war that rages for our very souls".  As believers, we are not only called to think a certain way, but we are called to live in a certain way, as well.  If the life you're living more closely reflects that of the world instead of that of His Word, you are fighting a battle that you will LOSE!
Live your life as a holy, righteous sacrifice for our Savior; for this, is the true way to worship!  Listen to today's sermon and understand that the greatest battles we face today, begin in the hearts and minds of mankind.
    Key Passages of Reflection:
    Romans 12:1-2
    1 Peter 2:11-12
    Proverbs 4:23
    Galatians 5:16-25

    Gone Fishin’
In today's message, Pastor Stephen challenged the RWC family to engage in a "little less talk and a lot more action" as he emphasized the primary role we've been given in the Great Commission--and that is to fish for people.  We have to learn to trust God and go fish!  We must be obedient to push out a little further into our relationship with Jesus, and let down our nets "because He said so" as Scripture teaches in Jesus' encounter with Peter.
Listen to this ancient story presented in a fresh way...and then hit the waters of this world and GO FISH!
    Key Passage: Luke 5:1-11

    A Narrow Minded Message
Pastor Stephen finished up the New Year...New Me series today by giving A Narrow Minded Message.  Over the last few weeks, the RWC family has explored who we are called to be, what we are called to do, and where we are to go as followers of Christ.  While this world pushes back against the concept of a single source of absolute truth and makes claims that there are many religions that lead to "Heaven"...Jesus said otherwise.
Listen in to today's teaching about how we are to enter through the narrow gate of Christ and live our lives on the narrow road that leads to destination LIFE!

    A Labor of Love
In this week's message, Pastor Stephen challenged the RWC family to live out their faith and pray for the strength to continue laboring for our Lord in the mission fields of life.  He taught how Jesus laid down the perfect model for doing ministry for us, and he encouraged RWC to be the kind of Christ-followers who not only do the work...but pray for the Lord to add workers to join us in 2015.  We are all given the chance to DO GOOD WORKS, but so often we miss out on the blessings He has in store for us because we don't go to the people like Jesus did.  We too need to teach, preach, and heal in the name of Jesus!

The Me I was Called to Be (Part II)
Pastor Stephen followed up last week's charge for us to be salt in the new year...with the second message of the series encouraging us to be light in the world around us.  We get so caught up in making new year's resolutions that we often fail to focus on who God has created and called us to be...in Him.
We are to love Him, follow His Commands, and share the Good News with all the people.  Don't try to hide your light, but rather allow His light to shine through you in 2015.

The Me I was Called to Be (Part I)
In a new sermon mini-series, Pastor Stephen launches into the new year looking at the commitments so many of us make to become a new and improved version of ourselves.  He discusses the need for us to consider not just the changes we would like to make in our lives, but to yield our thoughts and our energies into responding to the call that God has placed in our lives to be the people He has called us to be.
Listen to Part I of this two-part message, on being "the salt of the earth".

    The Joy of Waiting
After hundreds of years of silence...after hundreds of years of waiting...the Messiah had been born.  When you move beyond the manger, you come to some additional Christmas characters who were waiting.  Simeon and Anna were waiting for Jesus to arrive in the temple to be dedicated to God.  In this message, you will hear how Jesus fulfilled the Abrahamic covenant, the Laws of Moses, and the prophecy of Isaiah as God was dedicated to God.
Don't get caught waiting without the Joy of Jesus in your heart!  Simeon was waiting for consolation, and Anna was waiting for redemption.  Both found what they were looking for in Jesus.
    Luke 2:21-40 (NIV)
