A Bird’s Eye View of the Covenants
Series: GALATIANS
John R.W. Stott once proclaimed that "Christianity is a religion of sons, not slaves."  Too many times we fail to live out our Christian faith with the confidence and boldness of knowing that it is through our faith in Christ, we are no longer under the yoke of the law, but we have been adopted as sons who will share in our Father's inheritance.  Pastor Stephen continues teaching about the old and new covenants today, as he looks at the figures of Hagar and Ishmael contrasted with Sarah and Isaac to help us figuratively understand God's plan of salvation: only those "born of the spirit" will be allowed to remain with the father.  Listen as Pastor Stephen shares a Bird's Eye View of the Covenants.

The Promise, The Law, and The Lamb
    Series: GALATIANS
Pastor Stephen shared a message today that linked the Abrahamic Covenant and the Mosaic Covenant of the Old Testament to the fulfillment of both in the New Covenant established by Christ.  Listen to today's message and understand why Paul linked "The Promise, The Law, and The Lamb" together to help the Galatians understand that the law never replaced the promise nor did it contradict it...but rather it complemented it for a time until the Seed came.
Listen to today's sermon and take confidence in knowing that what God promised...He fulfilled in Christ's death and resurrection.  Just as God attributed righteousness unto Abraham because He believed, the Lord affords the same for those of us lawbreakers who come to realize that righteousness comes by faith alone in Christ alone.

I’ll Take Your Word for It
    Series: GALATIANS
As any parent knows, we make a commitment (or promise) to love our children from the day they are born.  As our children grow, there comes a time where we implement rules for them to live by so that they know right from wrong, and these rules (the Law) points them in the direction of God's best.  Even from the moment the Father of the house lays down the law, it never replaced his promise to love his children.  These instructions were given because the Father loves his children, and these rules would serve a purpose for a period of time in the children's lives.
In much the same way, that's the premise the Apostle Paul begins to lay out in Galatians Chapter 3 where Pastor Stephen begins to unpack the role of the promise, the law, and the lamb in this first of a two-part message.  This week, the emphasis is placed on the Faith of Abraham and how God made him a promise and credited Abraham's belief as righteousness.  Listen to this week's message, and check back next week as Pastor Stephen completes the picture of faith-based righteousness over vain attempts at works-based righteousness, and you will discover the role that Jesus played to fulfill both the promise and the law.

    A Dust-Up in the Desert
    Series: GALATIANS
Have you ever found yourself in a position where you knew what was right...but did what was wrong because of the crowd around you?  If you've ever buckled under pressure and acted in a way that was inconsistent with what you believed, you may be guilty of being labeled as 'a hypocrite'.  In Galatians 2:11-21, Paul called-out his brother in Christ when his actions changed because the crowd changed--which led others astray, as Peter deviated from the truth of the Gospel.
Listen to today's message, and better understand how sinful men are justified in the eyes of God as Pastor Stephen dives into the Christian doctrine of justification--using Paul's confrontation of Peter--to share how Christ both satisfied the requirements of the law and made a way for sinful men to be made "right"eous in the eyes of the Father.  To do so, we must identify with Christ both in his death and resurrection by believing in His name and accepting the price He paid as a substitutionary atonement for our sin.  BELIEVE.  GROW.  SERVE.  BELONG.  LOVE.

    Apostle Affirmed, Message Maintained
    Series: GALATIANS
After Paul faced significant opposition in his ministry in Galatia by Jewish legalists that did not agree with his message that salvation comes by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, Paul set out to gain affirmation from the Eldership of the church in Jerusalem to ensure a consistent, pure Gospel message was being preached to Jew and Gentile alike.  Paul's message was affirmed, and the Judaizers' attempts to add circumcision and the law (or man's works) back into the salvation equation was opposed.  The church rallied behind Paul, and they divided up their ministry responsibilities to reach all people with the message of the Cross of Christ. Whenever you face opposition in your work for Christ, go back to God's Word for reassurance, look to His faithfulness in your past, and surround yourself with brothers and sisters in Christ who will help you reach the world with the Good News.  In today's message, Pastor Stephen showed how Paul's Apostolic appointment was affirmed, how his message was maintained, and how the cause and calling of Christ through His church continued. Text: Galatians 2:1-10 (NLT)

    Series: GALATIANS
As we continue gliding through Galatians, Pastor Stephen finishes up Chapter 1 this week as he looks at the conversion and calling of Paul, and how God chose him to carry the Good News to the Gentiles, to kings, and to the people of Israel.  By looking first at the Book of Acts, we're given an account on how Saul's encounter with the Risen Christ would forever change his life.  You too can be changed by Jesus no matter what road you are travelling down!

    No other Gospel…No other Way
    Series: GALATIANS
As you listen to today's message, imagine a world where you can receive everything by doing nothing to earn it.  It's a dream you say..."it's too good to be true" you might add.  Well, it is true.  It's called the Gospel or Good News for a reason:  WE CAN DO NOTHING TO EARN IT...WE CAN JUST ACCEPT IT!  Man has always struggled to accept God's unmerited favor (Grace) because we are raised in a performance-driven society.
The Judaizers in Paul's day also struggled with this mindset, as well.   After hundreds of years of vainly striving to keep the Law and honoring long-held customs and rituals, they found themselves trying to add works back into the salvation equation--as if Christ's sacrifice on the cross was not enough to save them.  We are guilty of this still today, even when the Truth of God's Word makes it clear that there is "No other Gospel...and...No other Way" to be saved.  Listen to today's message, and give God the glory for your salvation!

    Freedom’s Formula
    Series: GALATIANS
Even if you've never been good at math, you can understand Freedom's Formula.  In Paul's letter to the Galatian churches, he gives God's simple formula for the salvation equation--which is Christ plus nothing and minus nothing.  Throughout this letter, Paul will make it clear that salvation comes by grace alone through faith in Christ alone.
Listen to this week's message as Pastor Stephen launches into RWC's new spring sermon series in Galatians, and understand the background, the problem, Paul's challenge, and the One True Gospel.  May God bless and keep you.
