What Can I Expect?     FAQ’s

At RiverWind, we understand that visiting a new church can be intimidating.  We want to make sure you feel welcome, comfortable, and loved when you come visit us.  Here’s a few answers to some frequently-asked questions.

1. Who are we?
We are a church that loves Jesus, loves people, and loves our community.  We are passionate about helping people become fully devoted followers of Christ.  Our passion is to build a community of people where everyone can know the amazing power of connecting with God, each other, and with their community.  We are a church who BELIEVES.  We are a church who desires to GROW.  We are a church who SERVES.  We are a church where you can BELONG.  We are a church that will show Christ’s LOVE to the world around us.

2. When and where?
We meet Sunday mornings at 9:30am at our facility located at 6288 Vann Rd in Newburgh, Indiana, for worship service.  Immediately following our time worshiping in song and in the Word of God, we gather at 10:45am for a casual time of Sunday School with classes available for all ages.  During July and August, we take a short summer recess from our Sunday School offerings.

3. Is there a dress code?
The dress code is casual.  There’s no need to come in a suit, tuxedo, or anything too fancy.  Just come as you are!  Jeans and a t-shirt works fine; most people feel comfortable in a button-front shirt, polo shirt, or khaki pants.

4. What should I expect on my first visit to RWC?
From the moment you first arrive, it’s our goal to make you feel at home.  One of our greeters will meet you at the door with a smile and will be ready to answer any questions you might have and take the time to show you around and help you get situated.  They can also help you get your kids checked-in or guide you into the worship service.

5. Speaking of kids, what is available for my kids?
We were hoping you would ask!  We have a safe and fun environment for kids of all ages.  Our preschool and children’s church services are tailored for children from 6 months old to 5th grade.  All children in grades K-4 begin worship with their parents in our 9:30am worship hour to share in a time of worship through song before being dismissed into an age appropriate teaching by our Children’s Minister who is dedicated to teaching our Children and Youth.

Additionally, all volunteers who work with our children must submit to background checks and be members in good standing of RWC for a number of months.  Cameras and a digital notification system is also in place to provide added peace of mind and security.

6. What is the worship experience like?
Our experiences are meaningful, creative, and spiritually engaging.  Each experience kicks off with a warm welcome, a time of live worship music – which is a blend of live, energetic praise music and an occasional traditional hymn that has our church family and guests standing.  At RiverWind, we feel we are blessed to have such an amazing worship team – we hope you will agree.

Then, our Pastor shares a biblically-centered message aimed at challenging and empowering you to apply Jesus’ words to your daily life.  We end our teaching time with a few minutes of prayer… nothing awkward, we promise.  Then we wrap up the experience by giving an opportunity to give back to God before closing with a few announcements.

7. What do I do when I first arrive this weekend?
If you decide to visit us this weekend, please make sure to let one of the greeters wearing the RWC name tags know that it is your first time with us.  We’d love to help you and your family get situated, and our Pastors and Elders would love the opportunity to shake your hand and personally welcome you to RiverWind.
